Broadening Democracy – Platform

Platform and action plan developed with Political Watch and Komons

The objective of Ampliando Democracia is to achieve a broad political and administrative commitment and a wide social support to advance in a democratic renewal in Spain based on citizen participation and deliberation.

Three lines of work from Deliberativa:

• Disseminate and promote deliberative practices in civil society and institutions:
  • Amplifying Democracy Manifesto (February 2024). Annex 3: Incorporating deliberative processes and citizen assemblies in public decision-making processes.
  • For a Citizens’ Convention on Housing in Spain (April 2024). We promote, together with Transparent Government, the holding of deliberative processes on housing, in order to think about long-term policies that do not depend on electoral changes.
• Accompany governments in the initial phase of conceptualizing and designing deliberative assemblies; we are working with public administrations in several territories.
• Initiate a Deliberative Democracy network in the Iberian Peninsula: the Delib Network was launched at the beginning of 2023, which today brings together more than 100 organizations and individuals.
